I told my wife, mom, and dad that what I want for Christmas is a new garage. I want some sort of flooring or floor treatment for the concrete, and I want a complete storage and workspace solution.
A couple of years ago I built a bigass table out of studs and plywood, and I have some shelving, but my tool storage is woeful, my parts storage is non-existent, and it's just too cluttered to every have an orderly place to work.
What do you guys recommend? It should be modular, so that I can either add more later, or if we move and land a 3-car garage, I can really blow it out.
I want to make him proud.

Sell your house. Alternatively, rob a bank.
Buy a house, knock it down. Make it into a giant garage, with one bedroom and bathroom and a kitchen.

The build tread on Garagejournal.com for that green garage you posted is amazing. A few years ago, I spent hours reading about every detail. Very impressive. Without a doubt, my favorite garage.
I have looked into garage flooring, and in the end, there is no great permanent solution. The plastic floor tiles start to peel up and change shape over time, in addition to trapping dirt and fluids underneath. The coatings don't last long at all, unless they are applied professionally ($$$) but then they only last a couple of years. The only good long-term solution is to tile the floor with high strength tiles like a bathroom, but then it is slippery when slick. That's why I will always stick with concrete.
As far as storage goes, you can build floor-to-ceiling wood shelves pretty cheaply. They also have racks that go above your garage door. I suggest buying a bunch of plastic bins and organizing stuff that way. I also built a ton of simple hanging racks by buying a 2x4, screwing into the wall (I have a cinder block wall), and just hammering in some nails every 6-12 inches. I hang everything up there from shovels to funnels as they dry.
My favorite organizational tool, however, is a rolling tool chest. Don't buy a crummy new big box store item, get a decent used one on CL for the same money.
I spent weeks organizing my garage around a year ago. Makes SUCH a difference. Now, I can get home and easily do a 30 minute job before dinner. Before, I couldn't do anything except on the weekends because it would take 30 minutes just to locate all of the tools that I need.

If you're planning on moving, why would you be investing in this much hardware? Why don't you wait till you get your housing situation figured out and then base your decision off of your avail work space.

We're not planning on it, but it's a small possibility within the next 5 years.
